Chiropractic is a drugless and non-surgical form of health care that aims to treat causes rather than symptoms. Chiropractic restores health by adjustments of the spine and other joints of the body using the hands and other related equipment.

There are many chiropractic approaches and techniques used around the world, often named after their originator. At Brooklands Integrated Healthcare a chiropractic treatment is typified by a whole body assessment and swift, light force adjustments, which makes it a comfortable and safe treatment to receive.

The nervous system is responsible for all body functions. The correct alignment of vertebrae in the spinal column is vital to maintain nerve pathways. Subluxations, or misalignments in the body can occur at any time. They may be related to accidents, sporting activities, household tasks etc.

Some causes are so subtle that changes can occur without the patient’s knowledge. When subluxations occur, a person can experience pain- of any description or duration, anywhere down the course of the nerve. This may lead to malfunction in either the muscles or internal organs. For example, tingling fingers can often be caused by subluxation of the neck vertebrae.

A chiropractor will examine the bones and joints of the body to check for imbalance, however slight. Any problems found are corrected with various adjustments, which are effective and safe. Chiropractic aims to restore nerve function in order to promote natural health.

This involves re-educating the patient’s muscles and bones into a better alignment. It is also a preventive treatment and can greatly improve overall health and well being. Regular check ups are recommended to ensure that the body maintains a healthy balance.
